Spencertown Academy Arts Center presents Small Works 2024: Regional Fine Arts and Crafts featuring more than 150 small artworks, including acrylic, gouache, oil, pastel, and watercolor paintings, pen and ink and charcoal drawings, encaustics, ceramics, printmaking, collage, mixed media, photography, fiber art, wood, metal, and basketry. On Saturday, November 16, there will be an opening reception from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and the exhibit will remain on display through December 15. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Admission is free and the artworks are for sale; a portion of the proceeds benefits the Academy.

“This is a different format for a Spencertown Academy exhibition. In many of our shows, the larger works take over. Here, we are allowing the smaller works a center stage,” says Curator Meryl Enerson. “The combination of 2D and 3D works, including an array of fine crafts, presents a great diversity of media. The show’s focus is on quality arts and crafts measuring 12-inches or less in any dimension.”

Spencertown Academy’s Gallery Curatorial Committee selected the works from over 300 submissions to an open call for art earlier this year. The 73 artists include Carolyn Abrams (Lenox, MA), Jeffrey All (Spencertown, NY), Fern Apfel (Kinderhook, NY), Holly Aragi (Sheffield, MA), Deborah Bayly (Poestenkill, NY), Leslie Blank (Ghent, NY), Stephanie Blumenthal (Sheffield, MA), William Bracken (Averill Park, NY), Elizabeth Buttler (Housatonic, MA), Deborah Carter (Lenox, MA), James Coe (Hannacroix, NY), Howard Danelowitz (Hillsdale, NY), Amanda Filli (Kinderhook, NY), Katy Flammia (Hudson, NY), Meryl Freeman (Ghent, NY), Cecilia Friederichs (Valatie, NY), Pat Frik (Housatonic, MA), Gail Giles (Chatham, NY), Robin Guthridge (North Chatham, NY), Terrence Hanlon (Pittsfield, MA), Nicholas Haylett (Kinderhook, NY), Nancy Henry (Albany, NY), Catherine Herman (Glenmont, NY),
