Every year for two weeks the HSCS crew creates a temporary professional Stone Carving studio in the Park and offers Stone Carving classes to anyone interested.

Led by Master Sculptor Kevin VanHentenryck known for his Rip VanWinkle at the summit of Hunter Mountain.  The HSCS has worked with thousands of non-artists over the years.  “It’s not as difficult as you would think-primitive people did this 170 thousand years ago with a sharp rock held in their hand-we have much better tools!”
So, stop by and view the carvings, watch the process, or just to see how were doing.
