A Legacy of Enslavement in Greene County

Sunday, Feb. 23, 2-3:30pm

Join Greene County Historian Jonathan Palmer for an insightful afternoon lecture exploring the diverse primary sources that document the practice and legacy of slavery in Greene County.

Spanning from the colonial era through the antebellum period, this lecture will offer attendees the chance to examine, discuss, and contextualize various materials that not only highlight the realities of enslavement but also illuminate the shifts in local communities following the abolition of slavery in New York State.

A special focus will be placed on records related to the historic Brandow property, which is currently owned and maintained by Greene Land Trust.

Jonathan’s lecture is limited to 25 attendees. Register today to reserve your seat! Register HERE
