Greene County Council on the Arts is now in our 42nd year of service to the arts community is hosting a special benefit, “Play GOLF & Swing for the ARTS” on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Catskill Golf Club located at 27 Brooks Lane, Catskill, NY. Our goal is to make this fundraising golf outing an introduction to GCCA programs and attract people to be involved with GCCA’s future. GCCA invites you to be a special part of our celebration and offer your support to the arts and culture of Greene County and our region by choosing a level of sponsorship.

Included in the event is use of driving range, cart, 18 holes, light lunch at “The Turn”, 18 raffle tickets to win a chance on an original artwork and an after golf art reception with prizes and winners announced. A special Silent Auction also takes place-five days and four nights at the Marriot Vacation Club at Ford Colony in Williamsburg, Virgina. This includes a 2-bedroom condo and six rounds of golf!

The GCCA is a non profit, 501 (c)(3), arts service organization founded in 1975. Our purpose is to enrich the quality of life in Greene, Columbia and Schoharie counties by developing and supporting a wide range of artistic expressions and by initiating cultural and arts related activities for all ages and audiences. We act as ambassadors to the local arts scene and provide services to artists, arts organizations, cultural, historic and educational institutions, civic groups, community agencies and the general public. In addition, we serve Greene, Columbia and Schoharie counties through our Community Arts Grants. Our bi-monthly newspaper Arts Alive and professional assistance are just some of the valuable services we provide to our communities year-round at low or free cost.

GCCA’s Catskill Gallery exhibitions, which attract thousands of local and tourist audiences, reflect the unique flavor of our region and include the expressions of emerging to mature artists. The GCCA Gallery Program also hosts gallery student visits and offers dialogues with exhibiting artists. Some visits also include making art.

We invest in the future! Our Youth programs include “Sprouts” summer arts workshops, free to all Greene County children ages 3 to 7 and made possible by generous private and corporate contributions. The Arts Education Partnership, with primary funding from the NYS Council on the Arts (NYSCA), is administered by the Council and fosters invaluable classroom experiences in schools throughout Greene, Columbia, & Schoharie counties.

GCCA administers Cultural Funds to support arts programming in OUR communities! The NYSCA/Decentralization Community Arts program grants each year to an average of 53 arts organizations, individual artists, and local not-for-profit organizations for quality public arts programming and activities. This year our County Initiative Program, funded by the Greene County Legislature, provided support to ten Greene County established cultural not for profit organizations. These programs and our numerous creative collaborations attract thousands to Greene County and our surrounding region, promoting and fostering a robust cultural and economic environment.
