“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.”*
Dear Friends,
It has been my honor, privilege and pleasure to have worked with all of you over the past 42 years to build an arts council we can all be proud of. With your support and partnership, the GCCA has brought the arts to the forefront of our economy and way of life. Together we have nurtured the arts for the public benefit and contributed enormously to what is now known as our Creative Economy.
Your Arts Council is now taking the next step forward and requires new leadership. GCCA will be expanding its services as an Arts Council to both Columbia and Schoharie counties. We have administered NYSCA’s Decentralization grants in Columbia County since 1997 and in Schoharie County since 2012. Extensive technical assistance has always been a part of our regrant programs and now the board is taking steps to ensure our greater participation. GCCA is changing its name to incorporate three counties and is seeking board members from both Columbia and Schoharie counties.
David Slutzky, our Board President for over 30 years, has stepped into the honorary role as Chairman of the Board. Bill Deane is GCCA’s new President. I will be leaving the Arts Council at the end of June 2018 and will seek new adventures and opportunities. A new ED should be in place by then and s/he along with our Board of Directors and excellent staff will need your support and participation during this time of transition.
Thank you for sharing this amazing experience, the journey of a season, and for allowing me to make a difference in our communities.

GCCA is seeking an executive director to lead us into the next chapter of the organization.
About GCCA
Greene County Council on the Arts (GCCA), founded in 1975, is a 501(c)(3) organization. It provides, supports and promotes arts access, advocacy and education for all residents of and visitors to Greene, Columbia, and Schoharie counties. The Hudson Valley arts environment is vibrant and growing rapidly and GCCA is positioned to be a leader in supporting the growth and awareness of the arts in the three counties. The organization is evolving as the communities evolve; GCCA’s intention is to be the major driver of the arts in the vital Hudson Valley.
GCCA provides information and services to artists, arts organizations, cultural and educational institutions, civic groups, community agencies and the general public. Acting as a chamber of commerce for the arts and a clearinghouse for the promotion of arts activities, we aim to stimulate the area’s cultural and economic growth through the arts.
We mount gallery exhibitions all year round, provide six weeks of free summer arts workshops for children ages 3-7, offer Regrant Funds for community and cultural arts, arts in education and individual artists in partnership with NYSCA and the Greene County Legislature, and produce a bi-monthly newsletter, Arts Alive, with feature articles, grant opportunities, resources for artists and a calendar of events.
