JANUS Artist Conversation: Daniel Sierra & Mike McManus

Gallery 495 is pleased to announce that the artists of Janus, a dual exhibition, Daniel Sierra and Mike McManus will be in conversation at Gallery 495 on April 19th. Drawing inspiration from the two-headed Roman god of duality and transitions, Janus explores the interplay between past and present, city and nature, and the narratives that shape identity. 

Norman Douglas is a Hudson Valley based writer, activist and intellectual. He writes poems but is not a poet. Douglas, who often speaks of the great limitations of language, will facilitate the conversation between Sierra and McManus, where the two artists will discuss art, life and their many inspirations in between. We invite guests to reflect upon Sierra’s nostalgic urban mosaics and how they intersect with McManus’s exploration of nature and spirituality, examining identity through cultural history, resilience, and transformation.
