Starting this Spring, CREATE Council on the Arts is hosting FREE artist-lead art workshops for kids ages 8-14 in Catskill. These 90 minute sessions will take place on the 2nd Sunday each month from March – June. Participants will create original artwork while exploring new methods and art media, using materials with low environmental impact, learning about artists working with similar themes and looking at and discussing real artwork in the CREATE gallery.
All the workshops are designed as one-offs and at the end of each session participants will be able take their finished artwork home.
Sign up for one or all four classes:
1) March 9th: Keeper of Things: multi media sculpture and paint. In this session participants will use mixed techniques to create a sculpture that can hold secrets and treasures.
2) April 13th: Perfect Room: paper sculpture and paint. Participants will use their imagination to make a model of their own perfect place.
3) May 11th: Comfort in Numbers: simple printmaking. Participants will make stamps with unusual materials and create compositions to design cards and prints.
4) June 8th: Tree Lodgers: paint and draw. Participants will work from observation and use their sketches to create an imaginative painting.
