Private Public Gallery

Private Public Gallery is proud to announce Voice of Silence, a solo exhibition by acclaimed artist Susan Wides, running from September 28 through November 3, 2024. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, September 28, from 3 PM to 6 PM, with the artist in attendance.
Wides’ distilled and wildly Illusionistic photographs are vibrant and powerful images that bring us in and then leave us without equilibrium. There are moments when you think you’re looking at water, leaves, or rocks, but reality goes in and out of your knowledge. The photographs are an interplay of light, water, and foliage, transforming natural phenomena into vibrant, abstract compositions. They are big and beautiful and confounding. There’s no real grounding ourselves through them. Everything shifts. Both her large scale photographs and projected video are an animated meditation in this metaphysical way of letting go.
As Robert Kelly expresses in his poem:
“We have heard, heard of,
the Voice of Silence.
Here is its face—
a tumult of colors
silencing form…”
Voice of Silence invites viewers to reconsider how they see the world, offering a meditative exploration of nature’s quiet beauty and its potential for renewal, while subtly underscoring the urgency of ecological preservation.
